The Playboy Debate: Should We Dedicate a Room to Hugh Hefner?” Missouri Professor Steven Watts, author of “Mr. Playboy: Hugh Hefner and the American Dream,” says a definite "Yes." He makes the case that the late Hugh Hefner liberated American society from Puritanical sexual neuroses. Conservative New York Times columnist Ross Douthat strongly demurs. In one of his most controversial Times columns, he declared Mr. Playboy to be a chauvinist pornographer who exploited women and made our culture “coarser, crueler and more sterile.” A timely debate in this “me-too” age. Get an early seat for this one.
