Bill Weld
Bill Weld is an American attorney, businessman, and governor of Massachusetts from 1991 to 1997. Despite the state legislature being controlled by the Democrats, Weld cut taxes 21 times and did not permit any tax increases. In 1992, he was rated the most fiscally conservative governor in the United States by the Wall Street Journal. He was the Libertarian Party’s nominee for vice president in the 2016 election. A libertarian Republican, Weld was the US attorney general for Massachusetts from 1981 to 1986, focusing on a series of high-profile public corruption cases. He recently joined the Honorary Board of the Our America Initiative, a nonprofit advocacy organization led by former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson.
