U.S. Rep. Thomas A. Garrett, Jr., represents the 5th Congressional district of Virginia. Raised in rural Virginia, Tom attended the University of Richmond, was commissioned in the US Army as a Field Artillery Officer, and was graduated from the University of Richmond school of law. He served in the Office of the Virginia Attorney General and, in 2007, was elected Commonwealth’s Attorney for Louisa County Virginia. He was elected to the Virginia state senate in 2011, re-elected in 2015 and was elected to Congress in 2016, winning with over 58% of the vote. A member of the Freedom Caucus, Tom has a solidly conservative voting record, and has been an outspoken voice for liberty and smaller government. He resides with his wife, Flanna, and three daughters, Carolyn, Laura and Locke, in Buckingham County. Tom recently announced that he would not seek election to the House.
